📚 Good to know: What is fixed book prices all about?
Maybe you've already wondered why books cost the same everywhere in Germany – regardless of whether you buy them at the bookstore around the corner, from large online retailers, or from Ena and the Tomes .
The reason for this is the so-called fixed book price .
This means that publishers set a fixed selling price for each book – and this price must be adhered to by all retailers. This applies to hardcovers, paperbacks, e-books, and audiobooks alike.
The idea behind it is really nice:
📖 It protects the diversity of the book landscape – so that smaller bookstores and shops like mine also have a fair chance.
📖 It ensures that authors, publishers and the book trade can work together well.
📖 And: You can be sure that you will never pay too much for your book – no matter where you buy it.
So don't worry if you're wondering why your favorite book costs the same with me as it does elsewhere – it's regulated by law.
